About Course

A confined space is anywhere that is mostly, or completely, enclosed. These are often harder to get personnel and equipment in and out of as there may be limited or awkward access. In the event of an emergency, it may be harder to get someone in or out, so we have to take greater care when working in these areas.

Some examples of confined spaces are storage tanks, sewers and enclosed drains, silos and unventilated or poorly ventilated rooms.

This course will teach you about understanding the hazards of confined spaces and measures you can take to stay safe. This course does not replace on site practical training, and you should always ensure that you are fully qualified to complete the task before starting work.

Who should take this course?

The course will help all members of staff that enter confined spaces within their workplace.

Course and timings

The course, which lasts approximately 16 minutes in total, is four sections long.
